You may have read or heard about our special community project this year, a full year of support to Solid Ground’s Broadview Shelter & Transitional Housing as part of our ongoing dedication to non-profit partners focused on education and empowering the success of local youth. While the program kicked off with our donation of new technology to support remote learning during Covid (tablets, Microsoft Office software and mic headsets), we’re also challenging our team to get creative and continue sharing the love by showing support all throughout 2021. And, we’re thrilled to say that the support continues! Our year of support began with our technology donation, and continued in February when we initially onboarded with Broadview with a Lunch and Learn - giving our team the chance to discover ways to help in a variety of areas, learning more about where the residents are at in their lives. This hour was critical in deciding our course of action on how to best make an impact.
In March, we hosted a Career Day with Broadview to offer in-kind career coaching, job searching assistance and employment support for parents to re-enter the workforce. These events continue each month to leverage the expertise of our Recruiting Team - updates to come on this front! Outside of professional coaching and technology donations, we also understood after working with Broadview that simply sharing the gesture of love and generosity can go a long way. Giving with the intention to spread joy and happiness on a holiday can be just as uplifting for a family as our other efforts. With that in mind, we knew Mother’s Day was an opportunity for RedCloud to surprise and delight. We were excited to recruit Mary at Flowers Just 4 U to create 26 bouquets to deliver to Broadview’s shelter ahead of Mother’s Day weekend. Knowing that the mothers and families staying at Broadview are likely experiencing some of the hardest days of their lives, a delivery of fresh and locally arranged flowers to brighten up their space was in order. Joanna, Broadview Children’s Advocate, reflected on the responses from the residents: “Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers and cards that you donated to the women at Broadview for Mother’s Day. My office was filled with smiles as each mom came to pick up the flowers. They brought such joy to the moms who felt appreciated, after for many, years of not being acknowledged on this special day. One mom commented “this really brightened my day, this is really nice”! Another mom stated that “It’s been a long time since I got anything for Mother’s Day”. We are grateful for the thoughtful donation of the flowers, and for your partnership! Have a wonderful day.” Take a look through the gallery to go behind the scenes of our delivery!
