We’re giving Jenny a warm RedCloud welcome! New to our team - but not the industry, being hired in December 2020, she’s already off to a great start and her enthusiasm shines in this interview. With a degree from University of Washington and nearly a decade of client relationship experience under her belt, her consulting expertise is high-level. In her free time, she serves as a Humane Society volunteer, aligning with RedCloud’s values of giving back to the community. RC: Briefly describe your role and how long you've been at RedCloud.
JL: I joined RedCloud in early December 2020 as an Account Manager to help with expanding RedCloud’s footprint in the greater Seattle area. RC: What was it like to join RedCloud (onboarding process)? JL: Joining RedCloud was a great experience. During my interview, Brett Clifton and I had such a positive and friendly exploratory conversation about the role and my qualifications/interest, and I left the conversation feeling genuinely excited and hopeful to move forward in the process. After a virtual video conference interview with Brett Alston, I remember feeling like the time flew by so quickly! The more I got to know about RedCloud, the team, and the Account Manager role, the more excited I became about the opportunity. I thankfully received an offer for the Account Manager position, which I happily accepted! One thing that also really stood out to me was in regard to my start date – I was a bit overwhelmed and pretty upset with news of my dog becoming ill. Brett and everyone at RedCloud were beyond understanding and supportive, and even allowed me to decide when my first day would be. Having that type of support before I even joined the company really showed me that RedCloud would be an exceptional place to work. On my first day, I visited RedCloud’s office where I met with Emily and Brett Alston. Both were so welcoming and helpful! I had a wonderful 1:1 onboarding experience with Emily – she answered all of my HR-related questions, and both Emily and Brett really made me feel a part of the RedCloud family right away. I felt supported, connected, and confident as I started my new position. RC: Given your background and other experiences, what stands out to you with RedCloud? JL: I did my due diligence before applying for the role by checking out LinkedIn as well as Glassdoor, and was extremely impressed with the company’s very high overall rating on Glassdoor along with the countless positive reviews from current and past employees, consultants and clients. I have made the mistake in my past when applying for roles at companies that had very low Glassdoor ratings. Another thing that really stood out to me was how involved RedCloud is with giving back to several local charities that I personally also support. After that, applying for the Account Manager role was a no brainer, so I applied right away! RC: What originally drew you to RedCloud? JL: I was actually referred to RedCloud by a great friend and colleague of mine who is also in the consulting industry in the Seattle area. He thought RedCloud would be the perfect company for me based on his own personal experience interacting with various RedCloud contacts. He had interviewed for a position with them previously and had such an outstanding experience with everyone he was in contact with that I knew right away I wanted to learn more about the company. RC: Where do you see the future of consulting or the future of RedCloud? JL: With the pandemic, I know there will be some changes still to come in the consulting industry, however, I only expect the number of consulting opportunities to increase based on this new normal we are all still getting used to, especially in areas with large technology industries such as Seattle. As far as the future of RedCloud, I only foresee things to continue moving forward in a positive direction. RC: Name one piece of technology you couldn’t live without and why? JL: Noise-cancelling Apple AirPod Pro’s!! After working from home for over 2 years, my noise-cancelling AirPod’s have become an essential part of each and every work day as they help block out all of the background noise that comes with working from home and allows me to better focus on my work. I am a relationship-driven person, so being able to create a quiet atmosphere for work helps me focus my attention on the task at hand, and save the distractions for after work. RC: What are you looking forward to the most this year with RedCloud? JL: I look forward to continuing to soak up the positivity, optimism, and amazing opportunity that pervade the RedCloud culture, even in trying times. I also am looking forward to expanding RedCloud’s footprint in the greater Seattle area and bringing in more clients, as I truly believe that any client that works with RedCloud will be extremely satisfied and happy with the high level of service and attention they receive.
