10 Minutes with Luke Ekhoff: RedCloud Practice Director

Recently joining RedCloud, Luke Ekhoff came to our team with an expansive and acclaimed professional history in specialty areas including market assessments and sizing, business planning, corporate finance, business management, program management, process design and optimization, and sales operations. Luke has served across a breadth of industries including consumer products, education technology, financial services, foodservice, industrial goods, intellectual property, information technology, life sciences, retail, and telecommunications. Yes, he has literally “done it all”, a big reason why we’re so glad to welcome him to our growing team. On top of his professional accomplishments, his approach to community aligns well with ours, serving on the executive board of directors of Childhaven, a non-profit organization focused on childhood safety and development. 

We sat down with Luke to hear more about his background and initial time with our team…


RC: Briefly describe your role and how long you’ve been at RedCloud.

LE: I joined RedCloud this fall as a Practice Director. In this role, I am responsible for helping developing our firm, consultants, and client base in support of the strategic priorities laid out by the managing partners.


RC: What was it like to join RedCloud?

LE: The onboarding process was seamless, I jumped right into the rhythm of business on day one. I’m continuing to learn each day with a strong support network across the firm.


RC: Given your background and other experiences, what stands out to you with RedCloud? 

LE: I love that RedCloud is both entrepreneurial and established. While, in some respects, the organization is in the early stages of growth and maturity, it is also full of seasoned consultants and consulting firm leaders that bring a wealth of relevant experiences and perspectives that help us scale.


RC: What originally drew you to RedCloud?

LE: My daughter and Managing Partner Brett Alston’s son are in the same 2nd grade class at Peter Kirk Elementary, so I was fortunate to get to know him socially at first. After I noticed a RedCloud posting on LinkedIn, I grabbed coffee with Brett to hear more about the culture and vision at RedCloud. After that conversation, and a review of RedCloud’s stellar ratings on Glassdoor, I was all in.


RC: Where do you see the future of consulting or the future of RedCloud?

LE: I strongly believe that there will always be a need for what I call “expert generalists” who can augment the capabilities and capacity of teams within organizations of all sizes. I think RedCloud’s value proposition is unique for clients when evaluated through the lens of 1) value for fees and 2) experience.


RC: Name one piece of technology you couldn’t live without and why?

LE: I recently purchased Apple Airpods and absolutely love them. As someone who is constantly listening to music or on the phone, I’m rarely without them.


RC: What are you looking forward to the most this year with RedCloud?

LE: Helping contribute to new milestones and continuing the amazing momentum of the past couple years!
